The Life of Saint Benedict: a shining light for Benedictine Education today.
When we talk about Benedictine Education, we usually turn to the Rule of Saint Benedict for inspiration. In this workshop, I invite you to explore Benedict’s life as presented by Pope St Gregory the Great. There, we can see Benedict as a young man who didn’t like what he saw and dropped out “learnedly ignorant and wisely unskilled” to follow God in a moment of history not too different from ours. I will present our experience in bringing the Life of Benedict into our schools, as a guide to wake up to God, progress in our inner journey and learn to dwell with ourselves “under the eye of the Onlooker from above.”
